DID YOU KNOW
In an earlier post we talked about the origins of Tetris. The first version of Tetris was a text-based computer game using square brackets [ ] to make up a block. It was originally shared from friend to friend via floppy disk where people were required to meet-in-person to get a copy of the game before downloading it to their computer.
Block Variants
Each of the seven Tetris block variants had their own name: O, I, T, L, J, S and Z Tetrimino. The Tetris playing field is called the ‘well’ or ‘matrix’. Much like Microsoft Solitaire, the original purpose of Tetris was to make the computer seem less intimidating to casual users. And like Solitaire, the original version of Tetris also contained a Boss button. Photo Credit: Nintendo
