What’s in a Name?

We were curious about the name Rimington9296 so we asked — turns out Rimington 9296 is the player’s hat tip to Dame Stella Rimington, DCB (Dame Commander of the Order of the Bath) a British author and the first female Director General of MI5 (Head of the Security Service) a position she held from 1992 to 1996.

Breaking the Mould

Dame Stella worked in all the main fields of the Service’s responsibilities: counter subversion, counter espionage and counter terrorism. She successively became Director of all three branches. A real-life agent, Dame Stella is the inspiration for her fictional counterpart, the character “M” played by Dame Judi Dench in the James Bond 007 films.
